Cargo’s Potential Market Reaches 700 Million tons.
Local shipping firms still can optimize their bulk transportation potentials on the domestic market that is estimated at 700 million tons per year. At the moment, their market share is only 6%.


Two Pelindo III Ports Rewarded on their best performance.
Two subsidiary ports of state port corporate PT Pelindo III – container terminal TPKS Semarang and cruise port Benoa Bali – are the only ports that got trophy of their best performance this year. They won the trophy after a tight selection among thousands of government public service institutions and state owned ports.



New Sea Director to focus on coast guard.
Minister of Transportation Jusman Syafii Djamal has installed rear admiral (ret) Sunaryo new director general of transportation after the post was left vacant for around three months. During the installation ceremony on November 17, Djamal said that existing laws and regulations were not against Sunaryo’s appointment because he had retired from the Navy.

Export of CPO to miss on lower demand.
Indonesia will likely export 13 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO) this year, 1 million tons short of an earlier target, as the global economic downturn has reduced demand.



RI Textiles lose Q4 2008 revenua as prices fall.
Textile and garment makers may be forced to revise down their full-year export target on falling revenue as buyers struggle to renegotiate contracts stipulating high cotton prices, an association says.
